FLOOR CARE INTRUCTIONS |
|
Initial Care Instructions
- Wait seven days before cleaning your new floor when a finish is
applied. Factory or pre-finished floors may be cleaned immediately.
- Wait 60 days before putting area rugs, mats, or carpets down in
order to allow the finish to fully cure.
- Adhere felt pads on all furniture that comes in contact with the
floors. This will help prevent scratching. You may also choose to
put slides under heavy appliances that will be moved for cleaning
purposes.

Ongoing Care Instructions
- Sweep, vacuum, or dry swift your floor regularly.
- Use rugs by exterior doors, in front of sinks, in front of a refrigerator
if it is hooked up to a water supply (the majority of our repairs
are due to this line leaking), and/or high traffic areas. Rugs should
allow the floor to breathe. Some slip resistant mats under rugs contain
petroleum which may cause the finish to discolor more rapidly.
- Wood floors may fade over time from exposure to the sun's ultraviolet
rays. Use of drapes, curtains and blinds may help curtail this effect.
- Removing shoes, especially high-heeled shoes, will help prevent
scratching or denting of your floors. If shoes are worn, be sure they
are free of dirt and grit. Larger pets can also wear the wood flooring
with their claws.
- Wood flooring has the ability to expand and contract, therefore
if possible, maintain your relative humidity between 40-55% and temperature
between 60-80 degrees.
- When cleaning your floors, be sure to avoid oil and wax based
products. The use of these products may adversely affect the appearance
and finish of your flooring. We recommend one-part vinegar to three-part
water or we can supply you with a safe flooring cleaner. Do not string
mop to clean your floor as a damp cloth will do the job.
- Our customers, on average, refinish their floors every seven to
10 years depending on the type of traffic on their floors. You may
consider a buff and coat prior to this to keep the luster of your
floor without the inconvenience of sanding down to the wood.
